As part of its renewed focus Research on Digital Education, the Leiden-Delft-Erasmus Centre for Education and Learning (LDE-CEL) currently comprises ten PhD-students. In the upcoming months, we’ll introduce the researchers and their projects. This month we'll introduce Xiaoling Zhang and her research to you.

Furthermore, we had our Annual Meeting on December 7 and we are looking back with the 100 days of Data for Learning team. Our partners at Erasmus asked chatGPT to write an article about the future of education and we have a vacancy at LDE-CEL / 4TU.CEE.

What’s next in computational thinking in higher education?

Education, healthcare, and governance – modern society is becoming ever more digitalised, making computational skills a crucial asset in both normal and work life. 100 Days of Data for Learning
Christmas is around the corner a time for relaxation and recharging as well as for reflecting on what we have achieved in the past year.

Looking at the ‘100 DAYS OF...’, this year’s theme was Data for Learning, for which we held several activities and events on campus and online to explore together what this means for all who use educational data at TU Delft, be that for teaching and learning or for research.

We started with the theme kick-off event on 20 October followed by interesting talks with CEL Science guest speakers, Journal Club sessions, and the first hackathon meeting on 30 November to develop something from existing anonymised educational data.

We want to thank you for your participation in the Data for Learning activities and hope to see you in the New Year, when more exciting events are planned, including the Educational Data Project Hackathon on 18 January at 14:00-16:00 in the Teaching Lab to devise and pitch an idea or project for later development – we warmly invite you to come and contribute. For an overview of all upcoming events, please visit the website.

Meantime, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year – and look forward to welcoming you at one of our next events in 2023.

  From our partners:

This article on the future of education was written by an AI
At ErasmusX they like to experimenting with new technologies. Amazed by OpenAI’s ChatGPT technology, they were curious to see what it had to say about the future of education. That’s why they asked it to: “Explain in 4 paragraphs what the future of education looks like and add subheadings”. This is what the AI wrote (the text was left completely untouched).
